With Single Pair Ethernet (SPE), it is possible to transmit Ethernet via only one pair of wires, thus ensuring a cost-effective and space-saving connection of sensors.
Thanks to the new Single Pair Ethernet switch from Phoenix Contact, it is now also possible to integrate modern sensors and field devices directly into the Ethernet network. The FL Switch 2303-8SP1 represents the first switch from Phoenix Contact to support modern sensors and terminal devices with single pair Ethernet interface. Using the 10Base-T1L standard, which is universally applicable and allows distances of up to 1,000 meters, the managed switch offers single pair Ethernet (SPE) on eight ports.
The connected devices can optionally be supplied with power via the two-wire cable using the PoDL (Power over Data Line) standard and 24 V DC Power Class 11. This allows sensors in production, infrastructure and building automation to be easily integrated directly into the Ethernet network without gateways.
Three classic Ethernet ports with 100/1000 Mbps are available to connect the overlaid network in star, ring or line topologies. The managed switch is particularly suitable for automation protocols such as Profinet and offers network redundancy as well as relevant security features.
Advantages at a glance:
- The switch can be used universally with all Ethernet and IP-based protocols
- long distances up to 1000 meters are possible
- uncomplicated installation and thus low effort
- direct Ethernet/PROFINET integration
